How should I prepare for an online therapy session?1. After you've booked an appointment with us, please complete all forms within 48 hours in order to give enough time for us to review them. 2. You will receive email confirmation and telehealth link 24 hours before your appointment. 3. Before your session, set your environment up for success. Feeling nervous about someone coming into the room or hearing what you say in session? These nerves may inhibit your ability to focus and have good take-away from your session. Pick a room or space that is private and let others know in your household to not disturb you for an hour. 4. Have some water or a calming drink like tea nearby. Sometimes when we're talking to a therapist we can feel pretty nervous. Having a drink nearby to hold and take sips from can help ease any fidgets. 5. Get comfortable. Grab a blanket that's cozy and sit in your favorite chair. One of the best parts of online therapy is that you get to be in the comfort of your own space! 6. Try out your session link beforehand. Make sure the microphone and camera on your computer are working and good to go. This will relieve any in the moment stress of trying to connect and figure out any issues during the session. 7. Make sure you have a strong connection to the internet! Glitches in a session will most likely happen first few times, but if it's happening frequently it can really alter your experience.

Does it mean I'm crazy in order to receive therapy? Not at all! People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out. Everyone needs professional support every now and then. You already have some strengths that you’ve used before, that for whatever reason isn’t working right now. Perhaps this problem feels overwhelming and is making you feel stuck. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is completely confidential.
